As we continue to make the transition to Canvas, here is some important information you need to know for a smooth start to your Fall 2018 semester.

Don’t forget to publish your Canvas courses, modules, resources, and activities!
  • You must publish your Canvas courses before students can access them. Please publish individual course sections you will be using to teach for the Fall 2018 semester.
  • Remember modules and corresponding resources and activities located within the modules MUST also be published in order to be accessed by students. A “green check mark” appears next to published items; hidden (unpublished) items will display the international “No” icon (circle with diagonal line). To publish an item, simply click on the publish/unpublish icon until the “green check mark” (publish) appears adjacent to it.
  • Once published, please notify students of the course’s availability on Canvas so that they may easily find it.

Legacy courses from Moodle now in Canvas
  • Some legacy Moodle courses have been migrated from the last two years (2016-17 and 2017-18) over to Canvas. These are available ONLY to instructors of record and contain no student information from previous terms. To access legacy courses click on the Courses link from the global navigation menu, then click the All Courses link.
  • If you need to access a course which is not listed in Canvas, and you are the instructor of record in PeopleSoft, please complete theFaculty Center Get Help form for assistance. Also, feel free to reach out to Faculty Center staff, call 707-664-2659 or email faculty.center@sonoma.edu.

Faculty now enrolled in the Canvas Self-Paced for Instructors Training
  • The Faculty Center has begun enrolling faculty into a self-paced training course to help you get up to speed with the Canvas platform. Look out for this course on the Dashboard.

  • You are invited to a series of in-person Canvas LMS training events for all Sonoma State University users delivered by a Canvas trainer. Whether you are a faculty member, lecturer, teaching assistant, or staff member using the new LMS, there are sessions tailored to all audiences!

All sessions will take place in Schulz Information Center, Room 2007. Participants are not expected to attend the entire day’s offerings; you are welcome to pick and choose which 1.5-hour session(s) work best with your schedule. Please RSVP now these and other upcoming workshops. Space is limited.

One last thing: to better serve you before the start of classes, The Faculty Center will be open Saturday, August 18th, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. We hope to see you then!
